Public art has the power to enrich and inspire our communities. Our statue project tells the story of how two Cleveland teenagers created the very first comic book superhero - SUPERMAN!
The creation of Superman by teenagers Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio in 1932 marked the inception of the comic book superhero genre. Despite facing numerous rejections from publishers, their perseverance paid off when Superman debuted in Action Comics No.1 in 1938.
